Energy Equipment Logistics

Transport energy equipment

Power transformers, nacelles, hubs, tower sections, wind turbine blades, generators and other heavy energy equipment. We select the transport configuration according to cargo weight, length and geometry, survey the route and organise loading, securing, permits and delivery to site.

Cargo specifics

Energy equipment requires a dedicated transport solution

A power transformer, wind turbine nacelle, hub or generator may combine high weight, a high centre of gravity, non-standard geometry, limited support points and sensitive components.

Transport is therefore treated as part of the overall engineering solution: the equipment is prepared for transport, its transport condition is defined, together with its position on the platform and the actual dimensions of the complete vehicle combination.

For energy projects, the final section of the route is especially important - access to the substation, power plant, wind farm or installation site.
Equipment types

Different energy components - different constraints

Weight, transport height, centre of gravity and loading requirements are determined by the design of the specific equipment.

Power transformer transport
01

Power transformers

Heavy electrical units with highly concentrated weight and specific support and securing requirements.

Wind turbine component transport
02

Wind turbine components

Nacelles, hubs, tower sections and other oversized components of wind energy installations.

Turbine and generator equipment transport
03

Turbine and generator units

Large process modules for power plants and energy facilities that require an individual transport solution.

Heavy Energy Logistics

For heavy energy equipment, weight is only one of the critical factors

For transformers, nacelles, hubs and generator units, we analyse the actual transport condition, centre of gravity, support points, cargo geometry and the final parameters of the vehicle combination.

Heavy power transformer
01
Transport weight Weight of the main body after preparation for transport.
02
Centre of gravity Affects equipment positioning and vehicle stability.
03
Support points Determine how the load is transferred to the platform.
04
Auxiliary equipment Radiators, bushings and other components may be transported separately.
05
Final transport height Calculated together with the platform.
Preparation of energy equipment for transport
Transport condition

Equipment is transported in a prepared transport condition

The purpose of preparation is to reduce dimensions, protect sensitive components and create a configuration suitable for safe transport along the selected route.

01
Removable bushings and insulators

Sensitive protruding components are transported separately where required.

02
Radiators and auxiliary units

Removing individual components can significantly reduce transport dimensions.

03
Additional components

Individual components are planned as separate transport units.

04
Securing and protection

After preparation, the equipment positioning and securing arrangement is defined.

Heavy transport configuration

The platform is calculated for weight and centre of gravity

For heavy energy equipment, it is not only the carrying capacity that matters. Weight must be distributed across the axle lines while maintaining an acceptable transport height.

01 Number of axle lines
02 Platform deck height
03 Centre-of-gravity position
04 Load distribution across the platform

Route Survey

The route is checked against the actual transport configuration

Once the platform and transport condition of the equipment are defined, the actual vehicle dimensions are known. The entire route to the site is analysed using these parameters.

For transformers, bridges and axle loads are critical, while for wind turbine components, vehicle length, turning radii, lateral obstacles, gradients and access to the wind farm are also important.

Critical route parameters
01
Bridge load-bearing capacity Checked against actual weight and axle configuration.
02
Height restrictions Overpasses, lines and other structures above the road.
03
Turning geometry Passage of multi-axle combinations and long wind turbine components is checked.
04
Site access Gates, internal roads, gradients, unloading area or wind farm installation site.
Delivery of wind turbine components to a wind farm
Last mile

The last mile often determines the entire project

The main route may be technically passable, but access to a substation, power plant or wind farm requires separate inspection and preparation.

We analyse internal roads, turns, gradients, gate width, site condition and the ability to position the transport for unloading or installation.

What information is needed for a preliminary solution

For an initial assessment, the basic equipment parameters and information about loading and delivery points are sufficient.

01
Equipment type Transformer, nacelle, hub, tower section, blade, generator, turbine unit or other equipment.
02
Transport weight Weight of the main body in transport condition.
03
Dimensions L × W × H Dimensions after the equipment has been prepared for transport.
04
Centre of gravity and support points If a technical drawing or equipment data sheet is available.
05
Transport configuration Which components are removed and transported separately.
06
Route and site conditions Loading point, delivery site and known restrictions.
